Why the ball curves (and what equipment can honestly do about it)

Curve comes from the gap between face angle and swing path at impact.

A slice is not a ball problem or a shaft problem. It comes from a face significantly open to the path at impact. Equipment can genuinely shift the pattern: draw-biased heads stack heel weighting, offset, and a slightly closed face angle so the club arrives less open, and adjustable hosels preset the same thing at address.

Face-to-path is only half the story, though. Where you strike the face bends the ball too, and that mechanism is gear effect. Catch a drive half an inch toward the toe. The face twists about the head's center of gravity and loads the ball with draw spin, worth something like 35 yards of leftward movement on a 250-yard drive if the face were flat. It isn't flat. Driver faces are built curved, a bulge radius of roughly 10 to 13 inches, so the toe half aims the start line out to the right and lets the spin bring it back toward target. Heel strikes run the mirror image, which is one reason a heel-strike pattern and a slice tend to feed each other.

Built-in draw bias does buy something real. Movable and fixed heel weights run 10 to 16 grams positioned well away from the center of gravity, and manufacturers quote up to about 20 yards of correction. Ping lists 13 yards for the G430 SFT's Draw setting and 20 for Draw Plus. Those are claims rather than measurements, though, because nobody has robot-verified them setting by setting. The do-it-yourself version is a different story. A two-gram strip of lead tape on the heel changes swingweight and feel and nothing else, since a few grams cannot shift a driver's center of gravity far enough to redirect flight.

Two quieter levers deserve honest labels. On single-sleeve adjustable hosels, adding a degree of loft also closes the face by roughly 1.5 to 2 degrees, which makes lofting up a legitimate anti-slice preset. It stacks with the extra launch most slicers need anyway. Grip size nudges face rotation as well. Thicker grips slow the hands and tend to leave the face open; thinner ones speed closure. Fitters agree on those directions, but nobody has published the magnitude in degrees or yards, so grip size stays a tweak worth testing rather than a prescription.

None of that hardware changes the honest framing. A draw-bias driver typically turns a big slice into a playable fade. It does not build a draw out of an open face. What the geometry does is move the start line and soften the curve enough to take one side of the course out of play while the swing gets worked on. The mirror holds for a hook. Weight toward the toe or front, plus a slightly open hosel setting, resists the closing face, and low-spin player head classes often double as fade-friendly.

That is why Dialed labels its shape prescriptions help rather than cure. Flight data can tell you the miss is one-directional and pick the geometry that survives it. It cannot see the grip, the path, or the release that built the pattern in the first place. That part is a technique conversation, and it belongs with a coach rather than a cart page.
