Privacy

The short version: Dialed has no accounts, sets no cookies, and never asks who you are. It stores the golf numbers you type so it can show you the fitting again later, and so the fitter can be improved. That is close to the whole story, and the rest of this page is the detail behind it.

What we collect

Only what you type into the fitting form:

• Your launch monitor numbers: ball speed, launch angle, carry, and whichever of spin, club speed, attack angle, total distance, apex height and landing angle you choose to enter.
• Which club you are fitting, and which launch monitor produced the numbers.
• Optional context, all of it skippable: your typical shot shape, what you want to improve, your current club and its loft, your shaft flex, your budget, and which hand you play.
• If you upload a CSV from your launch monitor, we read the shots for that club, average them, and keep only the averages. The file itself is not stored.
• Your thumbs up or down on a result, and whether a human fitter agreed with it.

What we never collect

No name. No email address. No postal address or phone number. No account and no password. No date of birth. No payment card details. No precise location. No device fingerprint. No advertising identifier.

We set no cookies at all, and store nothing in your browser. There is no third-party analytics on this site, and nothing watches you as a person. We do count page views ourselves: each page asks our own server for a tiny image, and we add one to that day’s count for that page, and to that hour’s count so we can see whether the site is busy right now. What we store is a number per page per day and per hour. It contains no cookie, no identifier, and nothing about who you are. The two typefaces are served from our own servers rather than from Google, so loading a page here does not tell Google you visited.

We also keep a count of how people arrive, in four buckets: typed the address, came from a search engine, followed a shared fitting link, or came from some other site. When you open a page, your browser knows which page sent you. A few lines of code on our pages reduce that to one of those four words and send us only the word. The address you came from stays in your browser and never reaches us. What we store is a count per bucket per day, which cannot be traced back to any visit or any person, and we never record which specific site or search you came from.

Your choice about keeping the data

The fitting form has a consent checkbox controlling whether your session is kept to improve the fitter. It is [checked by default. Whether this default should differ in the EU and UK is a question for our lawyer]. Unchecking it means your numbers are used to compute your result and are not retained for improvement.

Abuse prevention, and the one thing we derive

To stop automated scraping, we count how many fittings come from each visitor per hour. To do that without keeping IP addresses, your address is combined with a secret value and converted into a fixed-length code before anything is written down. The address itself is never stored. Those counters are deleted after roughly two hours.

[Whether that code counts as personal data, and whether our previous wording of "no IP address" was accurate once this feature existed, is a question for our lawyer. It is raised explicitly rather than glossed over.]

Payments

The full report costs a one-time fee. Payment is handled entirely by Stripe on Stripe’s own pages. Your card details never reach us. Stripe collects an email address to send you a receipt; we do not receive it or store it.

What we keep is the record of the purchase itself: Stripe’s reference numbers, the amount, the currency, which fitting it unlocked, and whether it was later refunded.

Share links

Every fitting gets an address like /r/ followed by a long random code. Anyone who has that link can see that fitting, which is deliberate: it is how you open your own report on another device without an account, and how you show it to a fitter. The code is random and not guessable, and we tell search engines not to index these pages.

What a shared link shows is your golf numbers and the fitting built from them. There is nothing identifying attached to it. If you have paid to unlock a report, sharing that link shares the unlocked version.

Who else is involved

• Netlify, who host this site and serve every page request.
• Neon, who store the fitting sessions described above.
• Stripe, who handle payment and who collect your card details and email directly.

Advertising is not running on this site today. The slots on Learn pages show our own content. If that changes, this page changes with it, and a consent banner appears where one is required.

How long we keep it

[A period is being set with our lawyer. It is deliberately blank rather than guessed, because a published number has to be one the code actually enforces. The machinery to enforce one now exists, so the number and its enforcement will arrive together.] You do not have to wait for that: you can delete any fitting yourself at any time, using its link.

Your rights, and an honest limit

Because we never learn who you are, there is a genuine difficulty here worth stating plainly rather than burying: we cannot look up your data by your name or email, because we do not have either. The only handle on a fitting is its share link.

You can delete a fitting yourself. Open its report link and use “Delete this fitting and my numbers” at the foot of the page. Your numbers, your answers and the report are erased from our database immediately. There is no undo, and no account for us to restore it from.

If you paid to unlock that report, the record of the payment is kept: the amount, the date and Stripe’s reference, with no golf data attached. That is for tax and accounting, and [the retention period for it is being confirmed with our lawyer].

The same trade applies here as everywhere else on this site: because the link is the only handle on a fitting, anyone holding your link can delete it as well as read it.

Children

Dialed is a general-audience site and is not directed at children under 13.
